On January 27th, 2016 the research center Fraunhofer IWS<\/a> of\u00a0Dresden<\/strong>, in Germany, hosted the Kick-off meeting of the SuperWEAR project\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>(New cost-effective ceramic coatings suspension with superior wear and insulating properties \/ E!9756) of Eurostars program<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the last call of the Eurostars, prestigious program speaking of finantial projects, the SuperWEAR Project was placed at position 14th of a total of 230<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The purpose of this project, which lasts 30 months<\/strong>, is to obtain the profitable ceramic thermal spray coatings that improve the wear behavior and corrosion, with the goal of implementing,\u00a0in an\u00a0industrial level and for the first time in Europe, the\u00a0Thermal Spraying Suspension (STS) technique.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ceramic coatings obtained by Suspension Thermal Spraying offer interesting advantages<\/strong> compared to traditional thermal spray coatings<\/strong>, such as a highly refined structure, smoother surfaces, thinner layers of filler, improved wear resistance and insulating properties. For all this, the STS technique can provide the industry with higher performance wear coatings\u00a0that would offer the possibility to replace hard chrome techniques removing\u00a0Cr (VI).<\/p>\n

Funded by the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI)<\/a><\/strong> and with a total budget of 1,690,309.42\u20ac, Superwear is coordinated by Dr. Jaume Nin, <\/strong>head of the technical department and R&D of TMCOMAS<\/a>, <\/strong>and Eloi Font<\/strong>, from the technical office, and has the support of the Basque research center TEKNIKER<\/a><\/strong> and other Spanish companies.<\/p>\n

In this bilateral Project between Germany and Spain and led by\u00a0TMCOMAS<\/a> thanks to its extensive experience in the field of R&D, also participate OBZ Innovation<\/a>, <\/strong>GTV Verschlei\u00dfschutz<\/a><\/strong>,STERN Hidr\u00e1ulica<\/a>\u00a0and FRAUNHOFER\u2013Gesellschaft<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n
