TMCOMAS has successfully completed its participation in the BIOENERGY project, a collaborative initiative aimed at improving the efficiency and sustainability of biomass boilers. Our contribution focused on the development of external coatings for boiler tubes, using thermal spraying and laser coating technologies.
During this project, innovative materials recently introduced to the market were applied and tested to assess their behaviour under critical conditions such as corrosion, wear, thermal shock and ash fouling. To this end, prototypes of coated tubes were constructed and then installed in a specially designed pilot boiler to validate the technological developments in a relevant environment.
The pilot boiler, with a power of 300 kW, incorporates all the fuel supply, combustion, cleaning and control systems. It was presented to the consortium at the last meeting held on 13 November at the CEDER-CIEMAT facilities in Lubia (Soria), where the final results of the project were also presented to the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI).
The BIOENERGY project consortium was made up of the following entities:
Participating companies:
VALFORTEC Power Plants (project leader)
VALFORTEC Automation
TMCOMAS
Muon Tomography Systems
Innomaq 21
Tratamientos Térmicos Carreres
Research centres:
University of Barcelona
TEKNIKER
CEDER-CIEMAT
At TMCOMAS, we particularly appreciated our participation in BIOENERGY, not only for contributing to the success of the project, but also for developing new surface protection solutions adapted to highly demanding environments, thereby reinforcing our commitment to innovation in surface technologies applied to the energy sector.
